Anniversary Weekend and Melissa's & Greg's Wedding--Dahlonega, GA

Mike and I just returned from our little anniversary weekend trip to North Georgia. My friend, Melissa, whom I have known since pre-school, was getting married there so we planned our anniversary around her wedding day. It was so nice to be able to get away for a couple of days while my parents kept Andrew for us.

The Beautiful Bride and Her Handsome Groom! Melissa wore a gorgeous vintage gown and a crystal headpiece. She carried a very small bouquet of cream roses. The whole wedding was very laid back and unfussy while still elegant.

The groom's cake was a stack of books that looked so realistic,

 some incredulous guest poked a finger into it and left a big dent!

The rest of the food was amazing as well! We had pumpkin soup with cinnamon raisin croutons, the best squash casserole I've ever had, smoked chicken, grits, coleslaw and sweet tea.

 

It got pretty nippy out there once the sun went down. Melissa is wearing an elegant vintage jacket
 over her gown. Loved it-very princessy!

Melissa's birthday is 2 days later than mine,
now our wedding anniversaries are 1 day (and 5 years) apart.

Melissa and Greg, I pray you have a wonderful, happy, lifelong marriage and someday have some awesome babies that take your breath away!  

 

Thankyou to my sweet husband for the lovely weekend getaway. He took me to brunch this morning at a place called Bourbon Street in downtown Dahlonega.  I had the most amazing pumpkin pancakes with brown sugar and pumpkin syrup. Oh my goodness! Get ready for some recipe trials at home, Mikey!

Also on this trip, we had a chance to visit Mike's brother, David, who had just returned from India.

And, we visited our friends, the Waters, who are pregnant with twins!
